Hey guys.

Ive just got these shocks and with them comes a bolt with a larger thread. My question is what thread is the larger thread?. I need to get a tap for this thread.

Shock, KYB GR2 / Excel-G, Double Loop, 385/245mm

Thanks :)

Why do you need to do that, a nut and bolt fastens the top of the damper, that extra fitting is supplied for when fitted KYB's to a Caddy its not meant to be used on your bus.

I need to tap thread into the beam so I can fit the shock. Because its so narrow you can't get to the back of the beam to put a normal bolt and nut. Because I am using this fitting it spaces the shock away from the beam end plate. Once its bolted up to the beam I will weld it so the fitting is solid.

I have now found out that it is M16x1.5

I'm running a 4" narrowed KnL and still have space to get a nut behind the top of the beam end plate, its tight but it works.

Is the beam end plate really thick enough to give you enough thread to play with?
Might be a PITA but could you drop the beam, put a bolt in place and then re-fit the beam (so that the bolt head is on the inner side of the plates)?

Hi
Another thing to think about is if you weld the bolt/spacer to the beam, how will you remove/put on the shock. The top arm will be in the way....
If there Slamwerks end plates same as I've got you can get a nut behind,it's tight but they will bend out a few mm as well.Someone on here drilled an hole in the wheel arch so they could put the nut on from inside under the seat.if you do that I'd put a few washers on to make up the gap between the end plate and inner arch just in case ......Dave

Just welded it on. The shock fits perfect and it's really easy to put the shock on. I need something better then a bolt for when we put hydros on.

I'll get a picture so you can see.
