Wondering which clutch should be fitted to our '68 bay? its got the original gearbox i believe and the engine has a 200mm flywheel, im confused after looking on the justkampers website as to whether i need a guided release bearing or not?

What even is a guided release bearing? :lol:

Can anyone tell me which of the clutch kits on justkampers will be the right one?

Thanks in advance :)

First of all don't order from JK. Look at this thread and you'll save 30 quid or so: http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=53972&hilit=Clutch" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The only way to be absolutely sure is to pull the engine, check the Clutch and then order. The gearbox could have been changed in the last 47 years so you may need the later style

If everything is stock you would want the non guided bearing (first kit in the link I posted) but that is a big if.

I think it's probably non guided but not 100% certain

Don't blame me if it's wrong! :msn4: :shock:

Did you have any pictures from when you put the last clutch in?

Here's a link to an edited version of the Bug Me Video which is by far the best description of all possible clutch and throw-out bearing combinations for type 1 engines of all sizes. Unfortunately the video is just a teaser and most of the explanation of different clutches was left out, but maybe you can get what you need here. Skip ahead to minute 2:40 and he will explain which clutch matches which throw-out bearing and transmission. The bearing with the sleeve is bolted to the transmission through those three holes. If you don't have a transmission with the triangular mount around the shaft then you need the other bearing and clutch plate of the correct size to fit your 1600.

The full length videos from Bug Me are excellent ... not sure if available in UK.
