Which solex carb ?

Help needed to identify which carb my 1971 1600 single port should have ?
Currently my 1971 Cali westy has a cheap non solex carb which is running far too rich . My local vw garage tells me my current carb is of a low quality (Chinese copy ) which has been adjusted as lean as poss but still running poor warm
I cannot find any numbers on this carb to help cross reference to a solex . Any ideas how to tell them apart as I'm told a solex 30 pict4 is what would of been original to the vehicle ?
The engine code is bz ( Brazil ) ? If that's any help

Whichever carb you decide, make sure you get a distributor to match that type of carb

Different combinations of engine/carb/dizzy all properly timed, will work. To get better performance, power and even fuel mileage I would rely on other drivers' experience and set-ups. Here's a huge list of VW vehicle/year/engine/carb/dizzy combination list. I found this on The Samba but do not know how accurate it is.

Thanks for all your help , from what I've read seems the solex 30 pict 3 is most likely to be more like stock for the vehicles age . Another carb which I had in mind was the brosel 30/31 not sure if this suits and would it be better quality than of the Chinese copy I currently run ?
Might be interested in purchasing either carbs if they are suitable?

Yeah buses came with 30pict1,2,& 3's......

I think the Haynes manual has a good guide to years/models/change-overs etc
