So sick of every xmas or birthday getting 50 models of splitscreen buses and how come on the gallery sections of the samba there are 5 different catorgories for splits and one for bays?

Its discrimination thats what it is!

i know what you mean. why is it evey time that you mention the fact you have a camper, the person automatically says

"is it one of those split screen ones - they're lovely"

could be worse though, i suppose. at least it not a commer

We actually found the opposite when we owned our old splitty. When they saw our splitty they'd say, "Oh, I thought you had one of those other campers", and they'd genuinely look disappointed.

There's just no pleasing the general public is there :)

yer i get asked if its a splitscreen then you say no its a bay they go ow thats urm nice!

our next door neighbours actually thought the van was a remake of a vw camper!

either he's think (and he is) or the vans in good nick lol.

cant beat driving it and people waving though the missus loves that!

One problem may be is that when people think of bays, they either don't know what one looks like, or only know of later bays. everyone i've spoken to don't know what splits are! we need more bay toys! and t-shirts

We have been given about 3 money boxes, egg cups, candless and a toast rack that are all of splits!

At least the haynes stuff is of a bay. I have the bag, key ring, glass, note paper and fridge magnet.

I really want to find someone who makes a bay body for radio controlled cars, again the only one i have found is a splitty.

When we bought our van I had a picture of it on my desk top as a screen saver but didn't actually tell anyone that we had bought that particular van.

Conversation in the office went something like this:

Person 1: why have you got a picture of that shitty old van on your computer?
Person 2: it wouldn't be as bad if it was a nice splitty or something.

Me, I just sat there silently and didn't entertain any of it,
Turned up with it a few days later and parked it outside the shop

classy lol

I like parking me van in the car park every so often one day i'm going to park it next to teh md's DB9 just for a laugh!

It's funny the reaction it gets in my girlfriends office car park. Lots of smart modern cars and our van looking crusty lowering the tone. People like it because they think it's cool but they assume it's a heap on it's last legs.

Thing is if you lined them all up in value the van would probably come in near the top

yer my mate gets about 2 or 3 offers to buy his ratty bay every month it is just sat on his drive along with 3 other cars that dont move.

best offer he got was £500 i think lol apart from the lack of paint its really mint.

I don tthink my car would be able to compete with the cars at work price wise but its way cooler! Last time i brought it to work i got a croud in the car park lol.

When people say my truck is shitty I quite enjoy pointing out that I only know of another 3 in the UK :D That normally shuts them up

sorry if i've missed anybody else.

I got one of your t-shirts,they're really cool 8) I'll be wearing it at volksworld.
I get the same reaction from people when I say I've got a VW camper they say is it one of those split screens? I say no it's an earlybay window.Which unless you know and most of them don't it doesn't really excite them that much.I don't care much though as I know I'm driving a class quality VW camper.

Cheers dude!

They always seem dissapointed to hear it's not a split window
The worst thing is when people say- 'when you going to paint it?'
Fairly sure i don't want to paint over 40 years of new mexico sun bleaching!

yer my mate gets that all the time his was sat in the nivarda sun for 10 years so although its really solid it looks rough as we got some serious stick on the way to V festival last year including being pulled by the fuzz and swabbed for drugs lol.

on a slightly off-topic comment, my dad was a factory manager of a large local company and went to work in his 25 year old beetle (just bought and a bit rough) and parked it in his spot.

later that day the security guard ran over to him in his office and apologised as someone had apparently left a "pile of rust" in his parking space and if he found out who it was there would be hell breaking loose.

my dad did not say a word, aside from sounding the horn and waving to the said guard on his way home.

right - back to the splitscreen debate - I prefer an early bay!!

Here here! I know what u mean, every christmas or birthday i end up getting baught a loada split screen models and money boxes! Then a few months back i went into the O'neill shop and saw a load of the usual split money boxes but.... hiding in between them , one baywindow money box all on its own, couldn't believe my luck. Had to have it Thats the only place iv ever seen one.

TO THE O'NEILL SHOP EVERYONE!!!!!!!!lol

At the end of the day you all know what you have! soon things will change,
we just have to educate people

To be honest I'm not to stressed about it.

I'd worry parking a split up some places because people identify that it may be worth a few quid so you're more likely to attract thieves, vandals and chancers, a bay is a bit more anonymous which in some respects is no bad thing.

Yep, splits are notoriously easy to break into.

Many a time I locked my keys in our old split - but a little wiggle and a jiggle on the cab side-window and hey-presto you're in!
