Hi Mate Have you got any spring clip thingies on your adjusters? Maybe they're missing and the adjusters keep adjusting themselves. Have you lowered it yet? Go on, you know it makes sense!!

Everything worked perfectly ok with the same starter and battery on the old 1600. All that I've done is put in a nice new 1776. That's what leads me to believe it could be the starter that is having trouble turning over the new engine.

Hi, I'm considering getting a hi-torque starter motor to try and improve starting performance (currently very slow to turnover, regardless of battery used, pants!). Does anyone have any recommendations of supplier and or type? Cheers.

Of the top your head, does anyone know the size of the studs on the starter motor? I think it's 10mm but I'm not certain. I could go and measure it but I thought I'd just ask you guys first to save me having to jack the bus up. Ta :D

You don't need the original stop plate with the EMPI shifter. I had an EMPI shitfer fitted and I had a lot of problems getting second no matter how I adjusted it. So now I have gone back to the stock one and I'll probably be getting a CSP soon.

Fixed it! It's now got a shiny new 1776, with original oil cooler mount, dipstick, and tinware (newly powder coated though). All the rest is new. Still haven't decided what to do with the old leaky engine yet. It's still sat on the garage floor in bits feeling very sorry for itself.
