Evening all, currently rebuilding the girlfriends beetle engine. It's a 1200 single port and the cylinder heads are knackered. Looking for a set of recon heads but I can only source 1300 heads.

Anyone know where I can get a pair? Personally I'd like to fit a pair of 1300 heads so she can have Weber 34 ICT's but she wants to keep it OG, even though it's slammed on a 4" beam

Guides are shot and they are cracked between the valves. If their are none about i'll send them to Stateside tuning to be re built

There are a few companies that stock SPs but not seen 1200s. Guides are easy to do. The crack less so, it might be ok to run as is but the risk is dropping a seat.

Yeah guides are a doddle for a decent machine shop but as you say the cracks are a bit more complex :? Alternative is use 1300 heads, just need to swap 2 head studs for the longer 1's from a 1300 motor. Can run 34 ICT's then 8)

I've got a 1200 that's been sat for a while. Was thinking of moving it on, could have a look at the heads on it if you are interested?

Yeah I can split it, might be a week or so until I get to look at it though
