127mm(5inch) tube 3mm thick where can I get some

So today I popped down to see the scrap metal man see what he had to offer an there right before me was this lovely looking 5inch pipe the down side was it was stainless an the thickness was only 2 mm

So the question I want to know is will 2mm be thick enough ?

An do I just need some stainless wire for my mig as I have an high argon mix gas anyway

2mm should be fine mate.

try and get some 308 or 309 filler wire.

try to get a welding gas that is a helium/argon mix. helishield or stainshield they where called last time i used a mig on stainless.

Just a little update

I gave up trying to buy some 5 inch

So here you go rolled with 3mm

Welded blasted an etched

So I'm sorted now

I did them at work matey but to be fair I havnt really got much time todo more an work
Might get a bit funny with me about it

did you get sorted dude i got an old section of a gas bottle (redy browny colour) to use for my front notches thats about the 5" mark IIRC maybe a quick scrapheap challenge is on the books

altho the walls more 5-8 mm but it means it wont bend

Yeah I rolled some at work out of 3mm an i guess the bottle you used was oxygen lol you animal will have too have a look at your build topic if you have one
