I wish I could do this in all the bus

Your bus is gonna be better than new when its' finished.
And yeah your name is like John in the UK or François in France, huh :)

Say, about the Unity spotlamp position, did you check if it's not going to get in the way of the steering wheel?

Keep those pics coming, loving it!

Nate, it will depend on the lenght of your spotligh arm...

Mine have a very short arm, so there's no problem....

... although they will be in front of the round dash air intake.
But even with a longer arm, I don't think they will get in the way.

Hi João

i just have 1 or two questions....
when you zinc coat those parts, will there be any problem when you weld them? is the zinc coat by any mean interfere with the weldings? and with the pain? do you need to sand them a little before you paint? there are some parts in the outriggers that cannot be sanded.
Another question, to zinc coat them, did you need to sand blast them???

thanks... and great work there. maybe we will meet in BBQ 2 weeks from now...

Hi melod...
How are you?
The zinc coat (what we call here "metalização") probably will not interfere with the weldings... However, if Hugo decide that the zinc coating is in fact creating problems to his work, he can clean it in the welding area, leaving the rest still protected.
In a couple of weeks I'll let you know for sure ;)
The paint will adhere without any problems because the zinc coat leaves the sheet metal with a rough finish instead of a glossy finish...
besides, I already did it in both bumpers and the paint is excellent ;)
For the zinc to adhere to the sheet metal you need to sand blast it before. That's why we decided to weld those inner reinforcements to prevent any damage or deformations.

I will probably be present in the meeting. Since the first one, I haven't missed one.
;)

we're still fighting this fight... one battle at a time.
I guess now we're starting the biggest of all
Hugo sent me these last pictures yesterday...

Not nice at all

Hope Hugo is ashamed of himself for finding these ;)

are you fixing it or replacing the roof? There's a lot of topics on here about replacing the roof and to be honest it might be the better choice here...

I'm not sure about Hugo's plans... but I guess we're going to get another one to remove the roof and use it on this one. The one we're getting it's from Mozambique and it doesn't have papers and license plates... and besides the steering wheel is on the wrong side

However, there's still some more areas to fix before we start fixing the roof:

Hugo already removed the jack points:

Meanwhile, Hugo started fixibg the rear corners....

There was some rust to be removed, so hugo used is new sand blaster to clean it:

... and already cleaned ....

on the other side, work is still being done.
Strangely the rear corner replacement panel from Justkampers isn't big enough
