Just saw the pic, pretty much the same indeed...

I'm wondering if the small repair panel (that's only the size of the window bay) will be enough or if I'll have to get the whole front panel and cut in it what I need...

 I think it's a beauty!

So I keep removing stuff..

dyn002_original_640_427_jpeg_2505735_d7405975df7e3cbc1897a15dcdcf2552.jpg

Now i'm sure the front panel has been changed, and the inside not painted..

dyn002_original_640_427_jpeg_2505735_11293691b46bc4c993e5cfc38ea41728.jpg

There's some light surface rust at the bottom, on the inside..

So I'm wondering now if I should remove the bottom of the front panel to treat that.. Or maybe pour some rust inhibiter or some ankor wax... Any ideas?

So, next..

While removing paint, I uncovered the weldings of the previous front panel repair...

With pieces of the original front under the new ones.. gotta make that cleaner...

The scary time: cutting..

Under it's not pretty but not so bad.. only surface rust...

De-rusting...

dyn009_original_640_427_jpeg_2505735_3ea141570361796b980866703a10ccb7.jpg

So I cutted and adjusted the small part I need from a whole new front panel and I made it fit.. Still have to work on that though.. 1st time I do that, not a pro yet :|

dyn009_original_640_427_jpeg_2505735_9d34a1f1c80a099dc430238f8b7aad6b.jpg

Obvisouly the shape of the new part is not similar to the old one, I'll have to tweak it..

Some Zinc spray before I left...

Should not rust anymore.. hopefully 8)

I've been busy..

New metal is welded on..

dyn003_original_640_480_jpeg_2505735_1993f05befd4f299f7a8d9a03bb5d2a7.jpg

Then I started to work on the back to remove new paint and try to get back to original paint..

That's 1 hour and a half of work only on that.. I'm using graffiti remover and steel wool, but it looks like the graffiti remover isn't working really well on the paint. I tried it on a bit of spraycan primer and it came right off.. Maybe i'll try another remover..

Today, US style dent repair...

So once you start digging in, you have to finish..

dyn001_original_640_480_jpeg_2505735_7fb6bdba6030d7de858f9a0ee1d6b61c.jpg

Then hammering it straight from the inside, really easy, lots of room

Welding back the holes..

For a first time, it's not so bad...

And also, I finished the decklid. The graffiti remover works much better when it's closer to 20° than 0° in the garage...

I'm using spray can of graffitti remover with 000 steel wool.. Works well when the heat in the garage is up...

unfortunately the new paint is there to cover up some dents so i'll have to respray those areas..

Pretty simple:

Counterweight 69mm crank, engle 110 cam, full flow, deep sump, stock heads, 94mm pistons, type4 oil radiator, dual 40mm Idf's, pertronix ignitor & coil, berg linkage... that's about it..

Next step new heads with bigger valves & 1.25 rockers..

Bus is starting to look a bit better:

So there's been some work done on the bus, I had the front painted, then buffed the rest of the paint, and started putting things back on the bus..

What a great feeling!

Thanks guys!

Yesterday's work:

Found a cheap set of repro GB, they'll do while I restore a set of fuchs that I have, or maybe get a set of flat4 fuchs..

Dashboard is in, still have to connect the jauges. Put the front bumper and lots of little bits

The car should go to the trim shop to get the headliner fitted in a couple of weeks...

Few pics..
