I could be wrong but i think the Green bus with the spinners won an award last year!?

I guess, some how, he didnt realise it was an early line up and just wanted to park with other busses??
I dont know - but yes - an early line up is an early line up!

Sorry guys as i couldnt make it down

apparently it won best of show last year.... :?:

i think we need a special handshake and EB tattoos, if you dont have them your not in the line-up!

great pictures guys and well done tall paul, really looking forward to seeing you van in the flesh

In fairness, isnt that green kustom bus a crossover originally?

I cant give him anymore benefit of the doubt than that. Im not sure he was arsed about being in the EB area, he'd gone into other areas first and liked our shelter and proximity, I reckon.

Himself, He was certain of a Best Bay win, theres no doubt by watching him at the end ....... but, hey, its all down to the voting public

I dont care for the van, Subaru engines, mettalic paint and spinners aint my thing, but each to theyre own. But on that point, the work on that van is quite surprising ....

Custom rear lights - instead of custom fabrication, they are lights mounted in to flat plates screwed into the rear light fittings.

Air intakes are, again, cut plates screwed onto the original intakes.

Is that the way of doing it? Id had thought proper fabrication was the way to do it? :? Its obvioously setting itself up as 'show standard' .....

Am I being to snobby/picky?

Its tacky and the sort of work i would expect to see on a max power escort. im pretty sure its a late bay looking like a crossover, think its on an "M" reg....

did any one look inside? the stereo doesnt even fit in its appeture nicely.
but like i said im biased and i think that anything you should do to a defensless bay has been done to that one... twin dual tailpipe side exit back boxes, come on?

im so glad one of ours won the best bay award,i know my bus isnt a show wagen but then ive lived in it for weeks at a time. i had so many comments about how nice my paintwork was, not bad for a 9 year old "quickie" paint job i did one (long) weekend!

BTW Clem i think your bus is outstanding! there is just something about it that floats my boat
id stick a set of polished empi 5s on it but otherwise its sweet, love the top tint screen too!

Cheers
That top tint screen weighs a ton! I changes the seal the other week and its a nightmare! I was lucky to refit it without cracking it, I reckon.

Wheels? Thats me being a stinge ;) It came with 4 good tyres, so I want to get the wear out of them .... they are actually whitebands on back to front. I have some more stock rims being painted, and Ill swap them over with the bands on the outside for a fresh look for this year anyway.

It'll probably be 5 lug Sprints when the change comes. Most likely Flat 4's, as the prices on OG are a bit rich. :)

I agree with everything youve said on the snotter.

Have to say that it doesn't really "do" anything for me, much like the Matrix bus, I can apprieciate the effort and skill that goes into the work on both vans (as I know I couldn't do that sort of work myself) but neither paint scheme and wheels does it for me

Empi 5s, empi 5s, Empi 5s..... your right about sprintstars, £1200 a set WTF!

why thank you!

Dont like the matrix bus atall im afraid, loads of hard work and cash spent on it but doesn`t quite work. Not gonna slate it just not a big fan, kids seem to like it tho :D

that green bus......mmmmm.......???

not my thing at all, but each to your own i guess...

chavmobile vans don't do it for me, and like the matrix bus, great skills in the paintwork, but not on my drive ta very much! Equally the owner probably wouldn't like my bus either, probably too 'boring' for him!

the green bus won an award at last years brighton breeze, I've never met or spoken to the owner so wouldn't want to speak out of turn, but have heard from others outside this forum of the odd hissy fit being thrown when a trophy wasn't won.....

but hey, he clearly wants to drive around all day in it so if he's happy then so be it.......this VW world we live in in certainly a varied one!!

I just hope that there wasn't any bad feelings generated at the first EB line up on Sunday, that would be a real shame and would make people forget what the day was all about.

Just remember the day for the 1st Early Bay Line-Up, hurrah!!!

However.......an EB line up is an EB line up, which does not include late bays, beetles, karmann ghias, type 25's, type 4's, type 5's etc etc....any more than a Green Heart Beetle line up wouldn't include an early bay.....

lessons learned for the next EB line up???

i dont belive anything was said on the day, we were too busy hiding from the rain!
although the thought of a couple of sticks of dynamite down those ridiculus(sp) back boxes did cross my mind! its something to laugh at in time but we could keep it a little closer knit next time
mind you if you keep it too close knit you may scare off new members!

the first early bay line up, a trophy, a monsoon and an intruder... we dont do things by halfs! :D

 I think about my last post on JK was slating the matrix bus after it won an award at harewood house last year. didn't go down too well with th owner

horses for courses I guess, but at the end of the day, we know we're in the right  :D

To be honest the chav didn't spoil the day, he just looked very silly and completely out of place. If we'd been really bothered there were enough of us....

A great start to our official lineups - a better day and we'd have spoken to more people, but great to meet Rick from Brighton as well as Taffy (tell us you are OK please!) & the amazing Chris.

Stonor Park next is it?

Thank you.

Mine's certainly not a show wagen either - I was very surprised when I heard the announcement yesterday!

Just shows that there's plenty of people appreciate a solid, original early bay I s'pose - even if half of it was shinier than the other half

I havent seen anything thats come from that C and M Custom Company that I like the look of .....

Also, a Kombi sliding door on a converted panel van ..... ? ;)

Enough already.

RTTS next for me, then it'll be Stonor Park. Top event, always hot and a superb autojumble. See ya there.
