Back in May 2007 I fitted a replacement exhaust - which has now fallen apart. Ruddy useless stuff they sell at Volkspares sometimes!

This weekend the van is in with James W at VeeDubs in Welling for a new Mexican engine to be fitted (great stuff you get from Volkspares sometimes!).

It clearly needs a new exhaust - what would people on here suggest I get fitted? Has to be possible to buy/deliver by Friday pm!

i origanally had a monza four tip which i replaced for a stock german ernst from jk of all places as a whole kit form for 70 squid .....easy to fit and sounds nice too ..imho...no probs so far

yea i know dude but all good so far, just give it a good coat of heat resistant black stuff and all will be ok

get a stainless setup from JK or Bluebird (I think their stock beetle type can be made to fit as well).
Or get something more exotic from vwspeedshop

agreed

pay more for a stainless set up that lasts, or we will be back here in 12 months with the same story

Bluebird do have a decent rep and nice exhaust, they'll try to get it out to you asap if you speak nicely to them

If you could afford to wait, then turbo thomas of http://www.turbothomas.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; can make pretty much whatever you want (for a cost  )
Got a header and turbo muffler off him a while back, should see the chavs go diving for cover when I rev my recently built 1699 with twin 36 drlas on

Also I think one of the JK/Bluebird boxes is double skinned so doesnt heat tarnish. Vaguely remember easy mentioning it somewhere on one of his threads.

Apparently the JK one doesnt tarnish - see this thread:

I've got a ss bluebird and its gone a goldie, silverery bronze not complaining it looks kinda cool 8)

can you keep the heat exchangers setup with this exhaust?

When I asked this question I was pointed in the direction of the VW Speedshop offering and I have to say its really good quality although has gone yellowy/bronze as Ants http://www.vwspeedshop.com/shop/product.php?productid=16241&cat=372&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not very quick in delivery though, I have a brand new quiet back box sat in my garage that came from Kingfisher in the midlands if its any use (had to buy it as the Speedshop box didn't fit the Empi piece of s**t header that was on there before so bought complete header and backbox and then fitted the Speedshop backbox instead)

Have spoken to James W and he has a spare system to fit in the short term.

His suggestion is to go for twin carbs soon and fit some kind of exhaust which gives a bit more go to the engine.

Thanks again for the help!
