Fitted Power Steering - What a difference!

Vinvan & I recently fitted Power Steering to our Bus. Wow! Really glad we did it. We bought the unit second hand on here a while ago and only recently got round to fitting it. We think it is an easysteer unit but not sure. Vinvan saw how Litesteer brace the unit by enclosing the knuckle joint in a tube which also makes it look "less industrial". So we copied it :msn4: . See pics. It's more of a pleasure to drive than before! Especially as we have low profiles on the front. The force can be adjusted using the small dial knob which can be seen under the light switch in the next to last picture.

Nicely done.
I fiited the Lite-steer version to mine recently and it really has transformed the bus into a very easy thing to drive.
The Tdi engine and cable change gearshift helps a bit too :msn4:

Had the Lite-steer version fitted to mine about a month ago, very expensive but what a piece of kit. It has completely transformed the bus, the steering is now lighter than my modern day car with power steering, it is a complete pleasure to drive, it was before, but this is awesome.

Just to say I had litesteer fitted by Neil about 18 months ago. Very nice very professional and also pointed out a few things that I have put right. I travelled a couple of hundred miles for him to do it, he dropped me off in the local village to kill some time and picked me up a few hours later in my bus. Couldn't fault his company or the kit at all

Does it use the standard steering box? And does it take away any of the steering searching are motorway speeds?

Yes, standard steering box. We were doing other "winter break" jobs on the bus and now all has stopped because of the COVID 19 lockdown. It was only driven a short while and I honestly can't recall about the "steering a barge" feeling on the motorway that we can get but when we are free from this lockdown I will come back and reply on it.

I feel I must now bring this up to date, my lite steer power steering has been brilliant up until the back of last week, it has now failed me after just over 2 yrs, must be just about a month out of guarantee . Rang up lite steer was asked to check for dampness in the ecu, completely dry, was asked to check charging by testing at battery that the dynamo was not over charging, have that to do yet, Also checked fuse was o.k. Has anyone had trouble of a similar nature, quite disappointed that it has failed so quickly out of guarantee. Cannot now drive it anywhere.

Finally got it sorted. Must have repaired first fault but introduced another by mistakenly removing torque sensor. After many phone calls with Neil at lite steer he talked me through what I had to do to balance it, and eureka it was fixed. Now understand a lot more of how it works, Thanks Neil

Been a while folks, hope all well. Fitted a lite steer with my son as a March '20 lockdown project. The difference is night and day. Great piece of kit. Just need to get out more now to enjoy it

Had a Litesteer EPAS fitted just before our holiday. One of the best improvements I've done for the van!

Very pleased with how easy it is to drive now, mainly for parking and driving at slower speeds.

Hi, I wondered how good they were. I fitted one on my 69. Mine was off a guy off eBay for a fraction of the price but does require DIY skills and a welder. It’s great to drive now. Have you any pictures of your install? Happy campering!

Hi again! I’ve just seen the pictures. This isn’t a litesteer, it’s the same eBay one I have. The motor is off a Vauxhall corsa. I like the outer casing you made!
