Popped to the shops this arvo to get some bits for camping tomorrow and the Genny light came on when I started up again. This sometimes happens ans I just turnoff and restart and all is well!

Getting tired of this i poked around when we got home only to find the ffuel pipe from the pump to the carb is split and weeping fuel everywhere! I thanked my lucky stars as we are off to Woolacombe tomorrow and it could have been catastrophic!!!

I need a fuel line now! Will Halfords do any as they will be the only place open tomorrow?

I have also send a thread regarding the quality of the rubber, any tips on what to avoid?

Matt

Sounds like you've been lucky. Halfords do well fuel line which should help but in the long run look at the threads on here - do a search on the forum as there's loads about ethanol proof fuel line.

Hi Matt,

I fitted bio fuel pipe, expensive but if you look through my thread at the end, you'll see the shocking state of my R9 pipe after a year and a bit....and i thought that was he best stuff to use.

http://www.vwaircooledworks.co.uk/Biofuel-safe-fuel-lines-.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I also recall a thread about the ethanol used in the fuel, it seems most of devon cornwall appear to be using it in some amount according to a response from Shell, Esso that i saw on another forum, other areas of the country appear not to have it as much, so this may explain the deterioration of mine in short time.

I guess it's down to the refinery that our area uses, though you may be different in Zummerset....

We'll see how long my fancy biofuel hose lasts!

I'll post up some pics when i fitted it, but it's only pipe, bit boring....

Might see you about, off to Watermouth Castle with the family later

Alistair

Thanks all, I picked up some hose from Halfords and fitted a new section without bother, made me think I need to check the rest of the hoses. The section I replaced was original as has USA stamped on it so I had not replaced it when I ran new lines from the tank a couple of years ago.
Thanks Alistair I will have a read and wait to hear how your investigations go, currently sat by the pool at Woolacombe Sands!!
