My fuel pump pedestal is cracked, I have a new one to replace it but no gaskets. Does it require gaskets? Can old gaskets be reused? Need to drive to Oxford (4hrs) tomorrow and would like to be with less of a chance of a fuel leak...

Oh, not sure how long crack has been there, Hilly_70 found it on Thursday. Certainly doesn't piss fuel everywhere if at all...

The cracked pedestal wont allow fuel to leak unless there is a pump problem - fuel is(should be) contained in the top part of the pump.
The gaskets will stop oil from the case leaking out past the case/pedestal and pedestal/pump joins.

If the old gaskets are ok then re-use them - with a thin skim of grease on them or make some of your own from thin (very thin possibly) card - you dont want them too thick as it will result in reduced pump rod travel.

Ah I see, so the pedestal houses the pump rod and therefore only contains 'movement' if you will and not fuel? And therefore the two 'tubes' on the fuel pump are for 'in' and 'out' as opposed to left cyl bank and right cyl bank?

I am happy  with that then, I shall wait until my gaskets arrive before changing the pedestal!

Cheers fella 8)
