Pretty proud I got it all done in 3 1/2 hours!

Just remember to get some polish on the paintwork once you have bought up the shine with the rubbing compound, or else it will just go dull again.....or am I teaching you to suck eggs?? :msn4:

And are you gonna call the new bus Smurf?!

Lmao alright will do. I really want to get the carbs sync'd. After I get that done I will concentrate on the flooring and paint.

Found that my gauge doesn't work because the wire that connects to the gauge isn't connected. I would like to know which wire it connects too.

Wire I found disconnected

(red) This is the only possible brown wire that should connect but its spade is different that the senders

I found the wire come out through here, ran along the underside passenger side of the car (red) hole it comes out of (blue) wires

In the bundle of wires I see the oil pressure and regulator wire which leads me to believe this is the gas tank wire.

If you have pictures of how your gas tank is hooked up please post them

A bit of an update. I cleaned the engine bay, rebuilt the carbs and changed out a couple more seals. Here is a before and after:

After :D

Now the issue, two of the bolts that hold the alternator housing together broke. I need to take the alternator out to get the bolts drilled out. My issue is I don't know what tool to use to take the bolts that hold the alternator out.

looks like standard allen key but probably not metric might be imperial which will be slightly diferant in size.
All bolts on engine will be imperial (UNC or UNF) but bolts on bus will be metric.
Bit of advice i got from the corvair centre forum, you realy need to seal engine in bay to obtain proper
cooling and prevent heads getting too hot which could cause valve seat to drop, this had happened to mine when i bought it.
there was at least a 6inch gap all around engine.
I've done it on mine just manufacturing steel plates to fit, make some cardboard templates then transfer to steel, made some that fit to engine then filled gap from body to these and used some old pop top seal between to two, also, made some deflectors for the engine outlet flaps otherwise the rear bumper got very hot to touch.
hope this helps as its good to see another bus with corvair power.
cheers Peter
