I know you've done it already, so this is probably a pointless post - but why send a deposit before you've seen it? I completely understand doing it after viewing if you need a week or so to get cash together - but paying anything upfront in this manner is a classic scam trick. I'm not saying that this isn't a genuine add - but at the end of the day, if it turns out to be a complete shed, you've wasted a trip and might not see your money again.
The long and short as I see it, if a seller wants to make a sale - they should be willing to answer all your questions, and provide photos of whatever you want to see. Anything less, and I'd personally leave it and move on.
I hope this turns out to be ok - just do as much research of what to look for upfront and you won't get stung. There's no harm in walking away as there will be plenty more available around this time of year. Better to be out of pocket for time / deposit than buying something that is a hidden rotbox.
