That looks well thought out and also well conceived :D

Is it a bit high at the front or is it spot on??

Naa its nice, was just a case of notching the front bar properly, having said that I've got fairly long legs anyway

Had a vague idea of how I was going to do it but it was pretty much build by eye

nice welding :D 8) looks comfy too. How are the banded steels coming on >?

Well since I took at them properly and found out they were different offsets they are on the back burner for the moment.

Got some more weld porn, 3mm stainless, butt joint, tig welded in vertical position and test to 4 1/2 ton per square inch

Hopefully will be getting a tig setup in the near future :)

And in an unfortunate turn of events looks like the van will be coming off the road for a repaint a bit sooner than I expected

So as some of you may know I had a daily that died last march with a suspected stretched timing chain. Well I never got round to scrapping it and was recently offered another micra for £200, so I ended up with these..

I would have swapped the tailgates over but some youths had broken into Toto aka The Little Red Shed so the lock area was knackered so I've had to keep the dented white one.
RIP Toto...

Failed the MOT on a split CV boot, not a bad result!

Cleared the garage and started to clear the crap out the garden so run the van for the first time in a few weeks

Looking a bit sorry for itself now, so as soon as work dies off a bit it'll be in for the repaint. Got my TIG set up and lead loading kit now so looking forward to getting back into some serious work on the van. Thinking about a diffrent colour scheme too, just not sure what yet!

Nice work on the Micrap  Love it.

The Herald looks to be in good nick - what needs doing with that then?

Yeah its not bad. Been stood for two years but it runs and drives so the plan is to get it MOTable, spend this year getting used to it and learning its quirks (as it belongs to my mrs - its an early 21st birthday present, shes wanted a herald for years- she needs to get used to driving an old car!) and then after that its a case of body off and painting it. It's had some welding to the boot floor so I'd like to investigate that further and tidy it up. One of the front arches needs some attention, the panel gaps are all over the place so they need addressing and its been brush painted so it will need bare metalling. Then its a case of replacing all the seals, sorting the interior etc etc

But for the moment its a case of servicing the engine, stripping and rebuilding the brakes, going through all the suspension and addressing any problems with the electrics. But from the little drive I had in it yesterday it seems to drive nicely, the engine sounds sweet so I think it'll be a good little car. Got loads of spares with it as well so for £600 I think we've done alright!

BOOM! And we're back from the murky depths of page three of the gallery!

So the Herald is MOTed now, we're just waiting on a carb linkage (had the classic solex problem of fuel pissing out from the throttle spindle) as the replacement stromberg we've fitted has a bit missing.

I'll admit I've neglected the truck, we've not done any shows yet this year as we've not had time. At the weekend I took our camping gear out the treasure chest, there were some mouldy doughnuts in there from last august! The tickets for Bus Stop Over have been booked and I've made a purchase for the van today so watch this space :D

The loadbed has taken some abuse since the respray and I've finally got round to sorting it out.

So after much sanding and masking...

And the chosen product is UPOL Raptor. It's direct application with rust inhibiting properties so will go straight over bare metal. It's designed as a truck bed liner but also works nicely as a stonechip. And as it mixes in the bottles and goes straight on the stonechip gun its fairly mess free. I used 3 bottles to give the bed a good covering. I could have probably done it in 2 and a half but I wanted to make sure it all had a good coating.

The truck looks good!
Raptor is the bomb! I used it on my double cab a couple of months ago!
It's tough stuff and now nothing slides around!

I used the color match kit and added the color.
I think it caused to cause the color to be just a tad off but I'm well pleased with the results!

Good results from both of you with the raptor stuff :D

Looks like it might get used unerneath the arches on my bus if it can be colour matched too 8)

How much is the stuff ??

Yeah they offer black and "tintable" which is kinda milky looking so will affect your shade slightly but you'll get somewhere near. I think when we do the Herald I'll be using this in the arches.

Think it retails about £60 a box, you get 4 bottles in the box and the hardener.

That DC looks sweet, wish my load bed was that straight.

Should be another update on sunday as I'm off to play with aeroplanes and look at Ferarris tomorrow :)

Thanks for the info 8)
