Intermittent starting problem

Hi folks. I have a standard 1600 engine with dynamo, battery 1 year old, I have a very intermittent problem, every now and again the engine won't start, doesnt turn over but lights on the dash. Quick push and it goes no problem, then weeks later does it again, done it once when hadn't been used for a couple of weeks and once when we had driven to the lakes, 80 miles ish come back after a couple of hours and nothing.

So can I use the leisure battery as an emergency to jump start it ?

And what do you think is the cause, do you think I should take out the starter motor Nd inspect the brass bush also.

Sounds a bit like the starter solenoid sticking to me

Yep, look out for a replacement starter and carry a mallet for now.
