Light clutch pedal, can not engage gears

As above, I’ve got what seems to be a lighter than normal clutch pedal and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to engage gears.

I haven’t even begun an investigation yet,

I’m thinking a knackered clutch cable ?

Thoughts ?

tighten the wingnut on the gearbox should remove the slack in your stretched cable

The cable could be stretched, adjust the tension on the wingnut so that you've got about 1/2"/12mm freeplay at the pedal.
Also check that the clutch Bowden tube hasn't come away from the bracket on the gearbox.
