Cant decide what to do with my engine, currently in bits all over the house.
Should I rebuild it as a stock 1600 or should I buy a kit of bits from the states and build it up as a 1776 or bigger? (need to get the bearing faces checked anyway so a bit of full flow & bigger cylinder machining could be done).

Already got a set of 36 drlas & a turbo thomas exhaust waiting to go on.
Really cant make my mind up so I just bought a bmd pulley kit while waiting 8)

has anyone on here used this place?

If you need work on it, then you may aswell go for a 1776, not to much machining needed and will give you a whole different world of driving. 8)

for any bits I would go here

quality stuff!

I was thinking the same, but have decided to stay standard in my Westy for now.Mainly due to cost,I need to spend out in other areas first.
If the rest of the bus is done and you have the spare cash then go for it! I was going to build 1776 with a standard rebored case and crank, bigger barrels and pick up some second hand heads from a show and get new carbs. Not sure about the cams though on what to do? I want good torque for going up hills faster, what cams best for that? Standard?

I gather a scat C25 is similar as well, is there a difference in quality?

I am tempted to go with stock B&Ps & heads and maybe get a small stroker crank 74? along with an engle 100/c25.

Is it ok to space the standard barrels out 5mm and would you need longer head studs to do this? I think stroker is the way to go though for torque increase.

I live it,engine bits all over the house,my missus goes spare when I bring bits home, they don't usually stay there long though

Stroker pistons are shorter than stock ones, so you might have to modify them.

It is much easier to fit bigger pistons than it is a bigger crank.

If you are gonna go stroker. go 2007cc. It is the best all round size.

except their adjusters. i went there when they were on offer and the inner and outer didnt fit at all. sent them back and went to cool air.

For Loxy to make a decision we need to steel his wallet and order it for him or he'll just be going around in circles forever. everyone needs to saying the same thing so its an unanemous decision :)

I say Type 4
