Thanks, it’s super exciting haha, at one point I wasn’t sure if it was ever going to happen for me, as I had a massive stroke that the neurologist said should have been catastrophic for me, but twelve months after that they said there’s no damage at all!
As for the second video, you are dead set right haha. But now I’ve got Covid so I’m on lockdown until that passes with a bunch of parts that JK have delivered that I want to fit. It’s always a waiting game.

A couple more update vids, changed the complete wiring harness as the old one had one burnt wire the entire length of the bus, (super lucky it didn’t catch fire). The new roof lining done by a guy here in Sydney Australia that goes by the name of Top Stitch trimming, awesome dude with a great bus too. Also had to change out the lock housing on the bus, as the previous owner had destroyed it by adding a garage door lock and starter button instead of just replacing the ignition barrel, remade all new pop top tie down straps, which took a whole ten minutes. I’ll post some more pics shortly.

Aw man so sorry to hear about your stroke, but purely amazing how you pulled out of it! So glad you’re back well again, despite having Covid now.
Can’t you do work on your bus while isolating at home? Might be a bit different over in Oz, but here you can basically go back to work with Covid
Do you own another bus? What’s that gorgeous grey monster car?
How do your doors sound now you have sound deadener installed?

That Grey muscle car is a 68-69? Camaro that my trimmer was doing seats and door cards for, it was an awesome looking car. As for working on the bus during my lock down, unfortunately I’ve got the bus at my inlaws house so can’t travel there to work on it. I’m just about out of isolation now so that‘s not a big problem anymore. The doors are quick solid sounding now with the sound proofing in them, even though I haven’t put it on the entire door panel, just like the front panel of the bus, I’ve just put large patches of it on the biggest surface areas to stop the drumming.

So I’ve managed to get the reverse lights working, all the indicators work on the hazard switch, but only the fronts work from the blinker switch! The dash indicator lights work on the hazard switch but not on the blinker switch either. I’ve only got high beam on the headlights and can’t dip them to low beam. So close to being finished, but still so far away at the same time.

So I’ve realised that I’ve got something backwards in the wiring, as the indicator lights on the dash shouldn’t come on when I put the hazard lights on with the key turned off, (but they do) and then when the key is turned on the indicator lights should come on but they don’t. Now I’ve just got to figure out where the mistake is. Haha

Well, mine only come on when the key is switched off, and don’t come on when the key is turned on, and they also don’t come on when the indicator is turned on! All so frustrating.

Finally got the wiring issues sorted and now all my lights work as well as all warning lights etc, lifted the bus up slightly to stop the rubbing issues at the front guards as well. And took it for its first drive in over 7 years. Now to sort out some other little issues.

Super happy with the first drive, but I’ve already started getting parts ready for an engine rebuild, ever so slightly bigger motor (1641cc) but it’s just going to be more reliable and a little bit better up hills as I’m also fitting my dual 36idf’s.
Currently the motor is a little smoky on gear changes, not under power though, so I’m thinking valves/valve seats? But all that is getting replaced so not too concerned. Also have an 091 6 rib box to have rebuilt and hopefully use in the bus, unless the motor isn’t strong enough for that. Any tips on that side of things would be appreciated.

The biggest improvement will be that everything on your motor as in compression etc etc would have been a little tired but a 1641 is a tiny bit more but mainly it’s getting back near spec on what the original motor would have produced. Would you notice the difference on a rebuilt fifteen ninety something versus a sixteen forty one rebuild, I doubt it very very much. I honestly wouldn’t worry about the box just yet .

Yeah that’s what I thought too, hence the reason I’m also going to fit my webbers as well. As for the 091 gearbox, I may still have it rebuilt for the next motor after this one. Thanks for the info.

It’s a great idea to pull it apart and have a good look inside and have a look at the bearings etc as that’s mostly what the noise is about on transmissions or have it re built by a trans specialist. 1776 and above will make good use of a six rib but have a think about your rear tyres for a little ratio hike on anything up to and including a 1776. Just a little more tyre will take your final drive up on all gears if you’ve got room under those rear arches and these three ribs are pretty tough unless you scream the pants off it.
