Oil breather advice needed

1641cc, twin Webers, oil breather on the oil filler neck. It's throwing oil spray everywhere and, while it isn't the end of the world to have to clean up after some trips, surely there has to be an alternative? I'm mistaking oil drips (from the spray) for oil leaks and think I may have assumed a petrol leak was the same oil spray drip. I've seen Bugpack set-ups on another thread but is this the only option? Is there some other way of containing the oil / preventing the spray?

The breather connection on the fillet neck needs to be connected to the air filter/s.

Yep no problems...guess might pay to check with yr particular setup but is sweet with my 44 idfs.

Or you can simply link the stock oil filler breather to the top of the right hand air filter.

I need to do this as well. Any advantages of running it to both air filters (twin carb set up)??
Also anyone know where to get fittings from and what size breather hose? I assume you just drill the base plate to the air filter (k and n)

This uses stock diameter hose. Fitting is a rightangle for gas/airline - chosen because it was chrome but a plumbing fitting will do the same job if you dont mind it being brass coloured.

No need or point in connecting to both carbs especially since the longer pipe to the left carb will be prone to clogging, due to condensates forming as the fumes cool.

OK, so that's two options. So, the CB Performance oil breather tower requires connection to the air filter(s) on one/both carbs as well? Yes? Now comes the question which shows why I'm desperate for the newbie mechanics course, but why can't I run a pipe to a standard oil filter fitted remotely?

Because the breather system relies on the negative pressure from the air filter connection, otherwise you blow oil all over the engine bay.

Bear with me... I'm already blowing oil all over the engine bay, so... No, don't go there, I need far too much help. Need to do some homework.

Take a pipe from the oil filler neck connection and connect to the right hand air filter, that'll stop the oil being blown about.

I fitted my hoses from the kit to the valve covers, does that make any sense :shock:
