Has anyone fitted a relay for the starter motor, as due to the travel distance the voltage has to travel it has lost a little time it gets to the strater,,, ie up the van and back again.. i know you add a relay in the system by the starter which solves this,
any detais and info please
thanks

there ya go ! works on mine a treat , but its usually down to naff/old wireing or a worn solenoid/starter .
i recently put a new starter on as the old one finally gave up , and thought i would try it without the relay and it works just fine , tried it with the relay back on it does turn a little bit faster so it must do something lol

Thanks that’s perfect, I have a new starter and solinoid, but every so often it just turns over a little laboured, but once started and then stopped it starts perfect next time so I think it’s just the first time if that makes sense.
What type of relay have you used?

bog standard 4 pin relay think it was 30 or 40 amp one , was about 4 quid from local shop been on there about 18 months now and been fine and if it does ever fail its just a case of swapping 1 wire back over .

could just try cleaning up all the earth straps ( gearbox, battery ect ) , this normally does wonders aswell :)
