O.K. I've been having some issues with my bus fuel filters blocking up for a while now, so I tried removing my filter in the tank and flushed out the tank with petrol untill it ran clear then replaced a new tank filter.

This was all good for a week or so but now I'm getting blocked inline filter problems again

So I'm gonna get the problem sorted proplerly this time by removing the tank and sealing it up.

Whats the better sealer to buy KBS or POR-15 and what have your experiences been like???

i think Frosts do a tank sealing kit for around £50 John ;)
They sure do just been looking at it. Still got that walkthrough mat sat in my shed fella, I'm gonna have to send it to you mate I never seem to get any time off work to get to many shows

i used all the KBS products and the tank sealer, have had no problems with peeling etc and ive heard a few problems with POR-15.

I used the KBS frame coating kit to underseal my van last year. Still going strong. Dropping the engine and tank is a job for me this winter as there's a ton of crap in there!

I'll be using KBS stuff again.

On a side note I recently swapped out my shot PICT carb and replaced with it with twin dell 36s.

In doing this I realised my fuel line from tank to firewall was like a twiglet  and also doing any work on this line runs the risk of getting petrol everywhere if any fuel is still in the tank.

Long story short. Once you are done with the tank I'd recommend doing what I did;

-Replace your fuel lines with good quality internally braided hose (Externally braided hides a deteriorated line)
-Avoid jubilee clips (Use the right size clamping petrol clips)
-Install a good quality metal fuel shut off tap directly after the tank (Makes changing your filters and lines a doddle)
-Have your good quality metal in-line filter after the tap and before the firewall (I have a glass bowl Filter King in engine bay to regulate the fuel pressure but it's also handy to see if I have a good clean fuel supply as well.)

Sorry for the ranting. You probably know most of this.

Anyway, go with the KBS but don't get it on your skin and look like a panda for a month like I did

O.K after a bit of research I have decided to get the job done properly so I know there won't be any problem's with the sealer peeling off.

The tank is going to a company called northern radiator group in Leeds for a re-nu tank repair job.

This involves plasma cutting a hole in the tank to get access to bead blast the inside of it then it gets blasted on the outside too, then it get the re-nu sealer applied on and baked in an oven. Takes about 7 days to get it all done but they give a lifetime warranty on the work.
