Ok, so after considering various techniques for notching the front chassis I have opted for a semi circular notch. I kinda thought that in architecture an arch is a strong shape and leaves no weak points that may be incurred using the rectangular option.

I got myself some 14cm tube and cut it in half. It's a little heavy at 5mm thick but it's all I could get.

i used a scrap fire extinguisher for the semi circular notches, nice and thick metal
