Going through a load of parts I had powder coated ages ago and found this??



Can't remember if its off a later bus or what.
Help
 
Looks like the pipe that sends heat to the air filter from under the tinwear
Generic part for bus, bug and kg afaik

That's sometimes called a stove pipe. It directs warm air from the engine to a tube/pipe that goes to the oil bath filter.
 
The bracket bolts on with the tinware. As sparky says it goes on to the end of the pipe that isn't connected to the doghouse/heat exchanger.

Ive seen pics on google where at the end its got like a big copper thermostat thing attached to it as it goes in the gap between the cylinder heads and tin between the heat exchanger/engine block

It sucks the warm air up into the air filter when the cold air flap is closed. If you are using a stock air filter they are good to fit, one single mounting point that fits on the right hand side tinware , rhs of the pulley wheel as you look into the engine bay.
