nice looking you think?
Well, and I quote,
"some a******e has sprayed some sort of *substance* (looks like duck fat?) over our van, and the paint has bubbled off, as if it has been attacked by acid......

it didn't last a week without being vandalised, we are slightly gutted as u can imagine...... they may also have put something in the petrol tank

speechless"

has anyone any ideas what this substance might be and what she can do about her petrol tank? I imagine it's going to need a drain/ flush.
They're in south london (stockwell) if anyone can recommend a mechanic - they may take it back to the chap that did it but nice to have a choice.
cheers

so sorry to hear whats happened! scum!! my first thoughts would be brake fluid or paint stripper as its easy to get hold of and commonly known to have just that effect.

RE the petrol tank, sugar or salt is often used as it doesn't dissolve in petrol and will clog everything up.

Once again, my heart goes out to ya!! hth

Sorry to hear this news :( .
Theyrs some seriously jealous people arround.
Cant even say "Hope its all sorted soon" as saving for a respray (Again!!) isnt a quick thing to do.
Will insurance cover it?

Rich

I feel your pain mate  ive been on the receiving end of vehicle abuse with my last truck............hope thats the end of it!

Just

thanks for all the thoughts & info, will pass it on to them. Think insurance should sort it but they were planning on going on the first family holiday in it since getting it back :(

TOTAL BASTARDS........They should hang by their balls, jealous scum twats. I really hope karma exists. I would have said the same as the rest of the gang the substance was probably nitromorse or brake fluid. Gutted for your sister dude.

Chin up and don't get too down at least the bus didn't go up in smoke like mine. Hope you get sorted soon :D

Some people are suck wankers, just dont understand why anyone would do that. Hope they have some serious bad Karma.

Hope things work out for you guys

This kind of thing really pisses me off. I can imagine how you feel.
Don't you just wish you could catch one of these people in the act and kick the living sh*t out of them?!

Anyway, the paint is gone and if it is really a chemical you can't jsut respray it. The chemical will keep biting even after a good rinse. You'll have to sand/key it back down in these spots.
Regarding the fuel tank, you can easily drain it and flush it a couple times with the fuel that was drained. Then put new fuel in, just to be sure.

So sorry AND ANGRY to hear this... Ive just spent a fortune on a respray and I would be GUTTED if this happened to me.... What are the chances of catching these scum?..... Not much I fear :(

dont fuck with another persons motor!will these little pricks never learn!!

I hope all is sorted with the insurance. I would get everything flushed out asap and do not run the engine atall until its all been cleaned (change filters and pipes aswell to be on the safe side)

I know this is jumping the gun a little but make sure when you get it re painted who ever you use, make sure they use bar coat first this is a special sealing primer ;)

So pissed off for you :(

Why does this kind of thing keep happening.

I agree with the posts above about the paint and fuel.

Very sorry for you

I know I'm not the only one to agree with that sentiment !!!!!!!!

Good luck with whatever you have to do

I can't believe someone would do that!

As for the fuel tank, the fuel hose runs under the bus on the nearside where it connects to the metal piping which feeds into the engine bay.

Disconnect the fuel pipe here, flush the tank through with petrol.
Fuel Filter should have caught the rest change this item. Hopefully shouldn't have got into the carb. If it has i'm afraid it is a carb strip down and clean. Not too hard but a pain in the A!

As for the paint i'm afraid you'll have to find a specialist, if you were happy with the results you received last time why not use the people who did the resto, they may have some paint left over.

I'm afraid i'm a bit cynical and it crossed my mind that it's an ideal way of drumming up business with no morals or it's just a jealous Ahole!

Once again sorry about the news.

PS. have a fire extinguisher on hand when doing anything with people.
PPS. Only do the fuel and filter when the engine is cold - safety first.

in life theres a finite rule...." what goes around comes around"... i believe this rule but can`t help thinking my mum told me this so that i could deal with the bad things that hapopened to me...that said afeter 38 years it seems to be true. You just have to wait a couple of years and the revenge isn`t always apparent...you just have to believe ;)

thanks for all the replies, it's much appreciated and i've fwded the link to her.

Re garages, does anyone know anyone in S. London?
Apparently the garage they have spoken to recommends a new tank which I can't believe really?

I've done some digging and http://www.mayflowermgvw.co.uk/ sounds close to them....alternatively some bloke called Darren who's in the Worcester park / New malden / Carshalton area.
anyone? there must be some londoners on here!

Some scrote decided to put a spiral design (crop circle!) into the bonnet of my precious 500SEC (east london).

T-cut, meh. Feeling the pain.

Scrotes.
