Went out and done it... last week I signed a years lease on a blinding little B2 unit.

1165 sq ft of play area for me, my dubs and the GTO!! Cant wait :D

I'm as happy as a pig well and truly in the brown stuff! Not too many plans.. Its a pretty newish unit so gonna just play with my Volkswagens there, restore my latest Camper, maybe detail few cars on the sly... DEFO building a spray booth there as following my college course there is no stopping me! lol

Might need the odd bit of good luck getting the Ghia over the speed ramp approach though! lol

WELL happy as Ive been searching for years for the right place! AND its right next door to a 24 hour cab place so theres always someone there keeping an eye out!

PICS to follow!

I know how hard it is to secure a good workshop, its been a nightmare but I became uber determined last week, and went out every single night on the bike and spent a couple of hours a time just driving round looking for sites, taking numbers down, dropping leaflets asking about availability etc.... I registered with estate agents letting them know I cant afford much as its more of a hobby than a business and asking if anyone's having trouble finding people to let to and if so I would go in on short term lease to get them some cash in etc etc.

You have to make stuff happen in life is my ethos so all the hard work paid off! I am chuffed to bits. ;)

It'll be nice to have somewhere secure to leave the cars, and more importantly I can go and buy some proper tools and do all those jobs that I just couldnt manage before because of it. AND I can at last buy a trailer/loader to shunt the dubs around because now I have somewhere to leave it!

First was to de-grease and scrub the floor so it is free from contaminants, then we can lay down the heavy duty epoxy floor paint to really smarten things up!

HERE you can see where we have marked out where the spray booth is going (big enough for a camper of course!!)

First bit of work going on last night... detailing the GTO! (Buffing and very minor swirl removal)

Its great when you can work until whatever hour you like!! Think this one was taken at 1am!!!

bloody hell dude, thats smart.

what kind of ball park figure does something like that cost?

Sweet - now that's what I aspire too 8)

Loving the GTO - and nice to see your a detailing man ;) - nothing better than spending 5+ hours getting it just right!

SOME FURTHER PICTURES updated progress............

The floor is all sealed and finished now. Sure you'll agree a pretty good sheen and finish on it.....

This is well cool. I had the use of an empty work unit when doing my T4, only 750sqft but it was a god send - so luxurious compared to my garage at home an I didnt even have a pimped sink!

Nice.

Now you need a hammock and a beer fridge.

Life is complete.

...on the way! lol

On top of half the booth we are building like a mezzanine flooring and there'll be a seating area with a couple of bean bad seats, a coffee table, kettle/tea/coffee facilities and of course... that beer fridge! Best of all it'll look down over the whole workshop!

thats gonna be awesome once finished dude. :)

wish i could find something like that down my way for decent price, frigging astronomical prices round torbay

SO....... THE BOOTH FINALLY gets underway...

As I am not going the route of bankrupting myself by splashing out 20k on a brand new professional booth we are doing the next best thing... building our own quality one!

The reason for the ultra sturdy framework is because we intend using the roof of the booth (or at least part of it) for storage as instead of a certain family member forking out a fortune each month for Yellow Storage they are giving me HALF that amount and I am storing and shrink wrapping their stuff and tucking it away on top!
(Ever the businessman eh, finding ways to make the workshop pay for itself :D )

Also we are building a "chill-out area" to the front of the roof, away from the extractor main units with a couple of bean-bag seats, mini coffee table, some dub magazines, a kettle and TV! 8) 8)

By the way.... check out my locker...... HOW anal am I with my tidyness?? Ha ha
