Small update for west, 3 years already had a Eberspacher laying around in the garage, this winter it’s time to build it in, extra heat on cold camping nights 8)

Greetings Mycha

Eberspacher almost finished, no photo's but you get the idea, from the first photo's :D

Having some more brake fun, Boxster brakes on 944 disks, no spacer needed with the fuchs :p

Working on a new improved adapter on the rear for Porsche 944 Swimsattels in combination with airshocks

Also building a new beam for my Westy with adjustable camber in the plates :msn4:

Kind regards mycha

Looking good 8)

How do the endplates work then regards adjusting the camber :?:

Fantastic build. Love it! I also like how you share all the information, kudos.
Nothing outrageous, cosmetically, but some cars just have that " je ne sais quoi". This one definitely has it.

Is your new beam also 5.5cm narrow, or is it more narrow? I would like to emulate your front end setup, but wondering if you feel you would benefit from a narrower beam or is the 5.5cm good enough for rubbing clearance for the 165-55?

The 4 mounting points are eccentric

Yes my new beam is also going to be 5,5cm narrowed, with my 944hubs (also 8mm a side) and the 5,5 ET42 fuchs it’s small enough tot clear for rubbing ;)

Like the end plate idea 8) what's the hole between the tubes for ?......Dave

With a narrowed beam and new end plates you loose the bumpstop, i drive with air-shocks, when they are deflated the top off my tire is just 1,5cm from the inner arch  On the new beam i’m going to build some bumpstops for safety :D

8) good idea with the tyres that close :D . The air shocks you have fitted only have 75mm of travel (think ive read it right) and the height you travel at only gives you 35mm of downward travel, and 40mm of upward travel/rebound......And it drives spot on :D ...Do they make a smaller size shock ?....Dave

At the lowest point (20psi in my shocks) my van is 53,5/54cm (ground to arch) When i drive i pump up to 120/140 psi, so thats 57/58cm (max is 61cm on 180/200psi). On 120/140psi she is smooth and compatible and no scraping in the arch 8)

I have the Gabriels 49230, the 49307 are shorter :msn4:

49230:
Shock Extended Length: 20.27 in. 514.86 mm.
Shock Collapsed Length: 12.79 in. 324.87 mm.
Length of Stroke: 7.48 in 189.99 mm.

49703:
Shock Extended Length: 16.35 in. 415.29 mm.
Shock Collapsed Length: 10.75 in. 273.05 mm.
Length of Stroke: 5.6 in 142.24 mm.

Yes they do and with lowered busses you need them to get back to original settings

Thanks. Do you foresee any issues with the fit of the air shocks if it were the exact same setup BUT 1 inch narrower on each side? (10cm narrow instead of 5.5cm narrow)

My air shocks just clear the bolts of the end plate, so 1inch extra……?
My beam is 2,75cm each side yours is a total 4inch then?

Old pictures with the ma824, they are 7mm less in diameter than the Gabriels:

Greetings mycha

Thank you Mycha. Yes, 4 inches total. About 50mm each side.
I see what you mean. Looks like it would be a tight fit, unless I guess you narrow the lower mount to clear the bolts, but then the top mount might have to be moved backwards so it won't interfere with the upper torsion arm.... etc. May be a little more complicated than I'd like it to be.
Thank for the pics and the response though

Not sure if anyone else is interested in a low profile carrier/mustache bar, similar to what Mycha got, but here is an aftermarket one that I just got, and is readily available (although is says "out of stock", they are in fact IN stock. As of today, anyway) and, I thought, very affordable (unless you take into account shipping :) ).
Roy Roger in the US carries it.

I hate to be a pest, but... what is your stub/hub set up in the rear like to be able to clear the Fuchs caps? the stub axle doesn't seem to be protruding much, and I don't think you've mentioned that you are running wheel spacers.
Thanks in advance
