Early start today, collected the bus and got it homešŸ‘

100 miles for the journey home and it sat at 70mph on the motorway very comfortably at 3k rpm. Which was exactly my spec at the start of all this.
Comfortable motorway cruising in traffic.

Need to crack on with the sound proofing this weekend and all the rest of the goodies that are ready to go on !!

The lovely weather meant I got some time on the bus this afternoon.
Finished installing the 3 point seat belts in the rear. Fitted the Autowares convex side mirrors and the Geekshack engine lid strut.
Then started insulating behind the side panels.
Cleaned, then dodo mat Deadn Pro, then Dodo Thermo Fleece

And finally got the VOLKSWAGEN badge on the back. (Although I lost one of the fixing clips which is most annoying!!)

Oh wow, youā€™ve just put in all that work!
What direction are you planning now if youā€™re selling both pop tops?
I know!
Not 100% sure yet - am exploring the different sleeping options and how weā€™re going to use it as a family.
All good problems! Just want to pass on my hard work for someone else to install and make their own. Which is why (I think) Iā€™ve priced it realistically šŸ‘

Finished insulating the drivers door and the rear load area panels, fitted a new, original style, steering wheel and another insulation layer over the engine bay.
So much quieter and can actually have a conversation inside now without yelling at each other!
Went for a test drive down the motorway - ran really well. Few slight stutters which I ignored, then about 20 mins later got a lot worse. Managed to get off the motorway onto a slip road and then the engine died. Eventually got it started again enough to get to safety.
Had to leave it overnight and recovered back to the VW Engine Company the next morning.
So frustrating. Will find out the outcome tomorrow.

So frustratingā€¦ā€¦

Finally fitted the roof rack today.
Had it powdercoated in white which I think will work well with the painted white roof and eventually a decent white pop top.

Early leave in the morning for Bromsgrove Trimmers, letā€™s hope third time is the charm! šŸ¤ž

Itā€™s just arrived back.
New coil and a few other bits tweeked, but frustratingly nothing obviously wrong.
Engine from VW Engine Company.
Thatā€™s good it wasnā€™t anything serious. It is frustrating. Iā€™ve got my engine from the engine shop, not got a great deal of confidence with it yet as the bottom of the case is badly corroded and when I bought the engine, they said it would take the minimum of 2 weeks before I get it. I received it 3 days later, so quite suspicious lol. I too put a new loom in mine and ready to put the engine in. I have bought new of everything, so hopefully itā€™ll run. Iā€™ve never thought of putting my build on here and just created an Instagram account for my build as I get so many people wanting to see pictures
