Wow, fantastic work on the roof! I just did mine this past week also, and despite my best efforts I could not acheive the same results.

...and great thread, I just read through it -- amazing transformation! I loved the photos with your bus here in Canada, I'm looking forward to snapping some pics from the same locations when I'm (finally) on the road. Drumheller will probably be our maiden voyage, I'll try to get the same pic as your avatar. ...only my canoe is green.

As above - lovely finish.

Did you use a plasticiser additive in the 2K for painting on fiberglass?

Did you get that finish straight from the gun? if so I salute your spraying skills - not easy, especially when its been so cold and wet recently.

Thanks everyone :D

It was straight from the gun, I painted it inside and I forgot to say I used standard 2k (Ppg brand) products nothing fancy for fibreglass, but I used a fast hardener along with a cap-full of accelerator. This means the paint goes off really quick!! I just lashed it on thick and fast!

The thinking was It wouldn't have too much time to eat into the old fibreglass and react.

(side note: I tried the above mixing technique on a whole bus and it turned out rubbish as it dried so quick)

I had the pop-top on it's side, not flat in the photos which made it easier to spray end to end rather than going to the middle like I would a roof so less chance of overspray..... don't know if that makes sense to anyone else?

CANADA :D

I guess my carb must have iced up and some days she did run a bit rough!! when I took my engine out and detailed it etc.. I noticed the pre-heats weren't even drilled out on my 4-1 exhaust  I think the air in the mountains must be dryer than in the UK. My next Canadian air-cooled will have a thermostat, flaps and a standard exhaust.

Squarebob I'm a bit jealous of your heater, my bus was from the a sunny US state so no extra heater fitted.

Drumheller is a cool spot! when you take your picture pull up in the parking lot, up to the grass and the concrete blocks, then someone will have to lie on the ground to take the photo, I had my Dad laying down there he wasn't impressed, good picture though ;)

Ok I have a new camera so I can take a few pics,

Missy is nearly finished and all polished up for a trip to the Volksworld Show :D

This the money shot for me - wow, looks stunning :D

This is without doubt one of my most favourite threads ever on here due to the story & quality of work.

Also stokes me up as you have gone for the same colours I have.... Lotus against the white bumpers.

Hope you enjoy VWorld show and you get the credit you deserve!

Kind Regards - Rob

Looks very nice indeed. Great job.

Thanks also for taking the time/effort to post up such a good thread too. :)

Thanks everyone :D

I had a great time at the Volksworld Show the weather was Amazing and I was lucky enough to get a space inside the show on my club's stand, Herts VW Club.

Missy drove Fantastic!! I dig a slammed bus, but I'm really enjoying a properly set up stone cold stock bus. Its a great experience.

Here's a few pic's of Missy at the weekend, I'll post up some pictures of my favourite cars of the weekend later today :)

I had a quick look around your bus. What an amazing job, looks great 8)
Now that I'm back in stock height world I have to admit all the other standard suspension buses stand out from the crowd to me :)
Not that I don't like a slammed ride - they will always look awesome too - something strange must have happened to me over the winter?

Really enjoyed seeing your bus at the show yesterday after reading all about her adventures on here! And she looked beautiful. Love the wood panelling inside. Just one thing that made me really sad.... the for sale sign. didn't like to see that one bit. : (((

Cheers!! :D

Heres a few of my favourites from the Volksworld Show, bring on the rest of the show season and a warm sunny summer!!!
