I saw someone post a simillar topic and am interested in what you think my van is worth based on the following pictures... thanks  Reason i'm asking is because i'm not impressed with what the so called agreed value insurers think

Hi there that could be sweet with a good bit of body work. very hard to say without a look over and under but i would say 3,500 hope this doesn't offend and i may be out. see what more seasoned earlybayers say m8..

Thank you im certainly not offended as thats much more than the ins company thought
Anymore opinions appreciated

I dont know how much its worth , but i would say my 69 panel van with no interior is worth about 4K so i think at current prices possibly 5 to 6 grand for yours at a guess , as its so early and OG too

Its all balls with the insurance valuation companies, you send off all the pictures etc they then give you a crap valuation.
Keep in mind if you trash your van they will only pay out that agreed value.
I recently had a bad front end smash in my 69 bay which was not my fault, the insurance inspecter came out & then valued her at 9k when the agreed value was on 5.5k   (I disputed the 5.5k valuation for months but they would,nt budge)
So they want to either get her insurance to pay all the repair bill or 9k for the value of the van.
Bloody lottery in my opinion.

Unfortunately they've only valued mine at £1500   I optimistically asked for it to be £5000 but would of been happy if they'd come back with £3000... How can i prove to them its worth more than they think? :(

As has been said it is a lottery you just need to contest it try the T2OC for there valuation it'll cost you and I've not heard all good from theres either but it is a recognised body....

shop around a few insurance companies, mention the fact your in a club that are dedicated to T2s and know the value of these busses, point out that at the current scrap value your getting to 1K

good luck

As with all buses at the moment the prices are far to high for what they are. Insurance companies give a relistic valuation on unrestored vehicles. Just because they are selling for overinflated prices does'nt mean that is what they are worth to the insurance company.

I can't agree with that comment. If something is worth a certain value then that's its value regardless of whether or not someone thinks busses are over priced. If they weren't selling then the prices would have never got so high. This should have a valuation of 5k minimum in my opinion.

the value of any bus is what it would cost to replace.same goes for any vehicle...infact everything

What I am about to say is not meant to be offensive, I'm just offering advice.

If these were the pictures you sent to the insurers I would have to agree with them due to a number of issues, in the pictures you can see rust issues around the screen, bumpers and lower nose etc. There is over paint in a number of places and welding is obvious.

I am not putting your bus down or it's worth but I think with a little bit of time and elbow grease you could amend all those issues and paint a better picture of your bus.

It is a RHD early bay and as long as it is solid underneath it will be saught after, you need to play the insurance companies at their own game and make sure the bus is looking its best and tell them about all of the work you have done.

My brothers old bus looked very similar if not worse but was very solid, with a cheap respray and new rubbers etc it doubled the value.

Also remember people like Scott and Simon on here import very straight, solid buses for very good value.

Again this is only my opinion and meant to help not offend.

I think you came up to us at action in the earlybay lineup.

Looks like a cool bus and i rekon it should have a much higher valuation i'm no expert though.

Good to me you anyway!

Sam (and Tess)

Sam - yes it was me! and good to meet u both 2.
Faux - no offence taken  I know its rough around the edges, but its still worth more than £1500! I'm getting alot of welding done soon for its mot, and will be getting the front done at some point soon too. Ive decided to send more pics off once this has been done

Cheers Fella, I think you are right. Insurance companies are a pain. They want to know everything but don't budge an inch.

It is all about making it presentable and then taking the photo's and detailing the work you have had done. I don't know what company you have used but I find Footman James quite fair, but I'm sure someone will disagree.

Keep up the good work and hold off on the agreed value until you have it looking good, it will then get the 3k+ you are after.

Out of interest who is the insurance company?, people like Footman James will agree a value based on what you tell them and the photos you send them, I'm not aware of them down valueing buses like some other specialist companies.

If its not FJ, I suggest you give them a call. The premium might be slightly higher but worth it if they agree a value and the bus in then involved in an accident or stolen, you will at least be able to replace it.

The company is Tower gate, Hall and Clarke. They are the AA's classic car division. I was pleased with the value they gave for my 75 bay.
Ive already paid the insurance for the early one, with them as you had to pay before sending the agreed value pics.
