Hi guys - hoping you can help me out - I'm back on the resto of my split after several years "distraction". In amongst my IRS conversion parts I have a set of bay rear hubs. Something in my distant memory tells me they may be off a 68 bay my mate broke, but I believe I need the later (72 on) hubs to fit my planned CE reat disc kit.

My question is - can anyone help me identify whether I have early or late hubs? If I have early ones - I'll be after a pair of late, in which case my earlies will be up for sale - anyone got any idea what they're worth (I gather more than a later set which means I can hopefully put a bit more money in the resto fund)

Cheers for any replies
Take it easy

they are differences, I know the outer spindle is shorter on a later bay, also I think there are slight differences in the hubs, I could identify what you have with a photo.

no idea what earlys are worth though.

The info on Creatives website says their disc kit bolts straight onto any bay, 1968 to 1980.

:)

it depends on what is termed Hub? and what is a half shaft?

the hub carrier ie the big bit that bolts to the springplate is the same or at least the inner bits will fit. The short axle/half shaft is different the early stuff is longer as mentioned.

I thought the CE kit replaced the short axle? actually it doesn't you'll need 71-79 476 mm long version it would seem??

EDIT~ this is the info you seek

THanks DubDubz_that's exactly the info I need - and hadn't even noticed on the CE page! :zombie:

Bearing and hubs are different
Stub axles longer on the ealier ones

EVERYTHING for early stuff if expensive BUT there is a chap posting up wanting some good second hand drums so as you don't need these could could sel. Thing is, if it is a full complete and decent set up then sell on to the splitty boys and just get a 71> later bay set up as you're going porsche pattern anyway.
