The time has come to sort the interior out on the bus.

Exterior of bus - pretty much sorted :)

Interior of bus - not so cool :(

Kinda looks like the rock-n-roll bed exploded.

So with the help of Rick (RJB63) the bus was stripped out in about an hour...

Managed to get the roof insulated pretty quick :)

I'm going to lightly restore the westy units I've got. I've sourced a lot of the trim that goes around the top and rear edges of the wardrobe (from here http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/pc-1469-296-wing-piping.aspx ), but I'm missing the corner trim.

Does anyone know what shape this should be and how it fits on the wardrobe.

I'm also missing the corner trim to the buddy seat.

I'm assuming its a 'T' section piece?

Currently having fun removing the seat cushion base from the brackets on the rock-n-roll bed. Screws that haven't moved for 39 years are being a bit difficult

Looking good Steve, it's gunna be an easy fix :( .

My Mrs would definately kill me though!

Have you got the concaved ply that sits above the cargo net? I have a peice of ply in the garage that may do the job, just let me know.....I need the space :D

I'll try to take some photo's of the trim on mine tomorrow and post them.

Cheers Jon - I was going to try and fabricate that piece myself but if you have one already that would be good. Any trim pics would be much appreciated.

Its not going to be any easy one, as this resto is taking place in the flat and out on the street.

I'm basically starting from scratch on all the interior panels as the bus is originally a Kombi. I can't wait to attempt the ply headlining
I'm keeping the stock vinyl headlining in the cab and just doing the 2 rear headlining panels in ply. I think I've found suitable aluminium trims, I just need to compare the ones I've sourced with some stock trims.

I've got some new curtains sorted already, along with some new vinyl flooring.

Westy seats are going for upholstery in the next couple of weeks - I've found some vinyl which is pretty much an exact colour match for my stock dark beige leatherette cab seats. I'm having them upholstered so they match the original westy cushions - same thickness, stitching etc.

Thanks to Frank I've got a US spec westy interior light in full working order, along with the screw cap for the water filler pipe.

I'll get the rest of the insulation installed next weekend, as well as new vinyl TMI door cards for the cab and a new kick panel. All good fun..

what did you use for the roof insulation?
Its foil backed bubble wrap insulation from Wickes. Its costs 1/3 of the price of the B&Q equivalent :)

I'm taking inspiration and technical advice from Carole's excellent Beeglebus thread:

http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?t=1670&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=beeglebus&start=30

If mine looks half this good I'll be well chuffed :)

aaawww shucks....    you guys say the nicest things....

bus looking great there matey! I did chuckle when I read the bit about it only taking an hour to take it all out, how true.....if only it was that quick putting it all back together...  I've still got loads of silly bits and bobs to do on Beeglebus, it takes soooo much longer than you think!

Especially if you're a fussy knickers like me...

btw, I haven't forgotten about getting your ply for you, I'll PM you very soon about that.

Carole

Hi Steve

I have measured the ply I have in the garage but it is way too small, sorry.

I have also found a site which does the trim you need, or trim that is similar:

Not much interior progress over the last couple of weeks as I'm still sourcing a few last bits....

will cruise at 65-70mph no problem and it's loads better through all the gears :)

It's always very satisfying to see something make so much difference, it must have been a real thrill overtaking something for the first time

so you put a beetle tranny in there? Is it a simple bolt-on conversion or is there a lot of work involved?
Are you running a standard 1600 ?
