Electric Choke question

Just a quick question, if i leave the electric choke lead off the choke on my weber progressive what will happen?
Does the electric choke hold the choke on or off?
Noticed that the choke on the weber is very close to the fan housing (i know its because the carb is mounted backwards) and since refitting the engine it seems closer than normal so what will happen if i leave the 12V supply off?

I`d say the choke will be on permanently if wire is left off.........
Is there no way to get a the terminal on ?
