Hi

I am trying to help out a member on here with some end float shims. I have a large bag of NOS shims that I got in a bundle of other stuff. Most are stamped with their thicknesses and the VW logo (sizes as "24", "26", "28", "30", "32", "34", "36")

Most are OD 70.55mm and ID 53.75mm, but I have a few that are OD 75.50 and ID 58.75mm.

Am I right in saying the smaller ones are Type 1 engines and the big uns Type 4?

Any guidance appreciated

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy, have been into my workshed to check the sizes of the shims that I have. There are 3 different types of shims, early 1200cc shims internal,55.23mm,( there is step on crankshaft ) later type 1 and 2, 53.50mm internal.External diameter is same on both these shims. I've not any type 4 shims to compare .I'm sure if you go on Late Bay forum some one will give you sizes of type 4 end float shims.
Hope you had a good Christmas and wish you a happy New Year
Robert
