Hello everyone,

I'm a complete, let me stress that, *complete* newbie but I couldn't pass up the opportunity of getting my first VW combi after years of looking at them with envy.
So when a guy came to my little town and was selling his for cheap, I jumped on the occasion. That was 5 days ago and I was super happy for a while.

The problem is that I am in Costa Rica.
Great for surfing, not so great for roads.
I must have pushed him too hard and this morning I heard a big "CLANG" beneath me. This is what happened:

So now I am super sad. :'(

The piece of rope got me as far as the gas station to have a mechanic look at it but he said soldering won't help as it will keep breaking.
So I guess I need a new piece... But I have no clue what the piece number is (or its name for that matter) nor how I can get it down here.
Can anyone help? Suggestions on how to proceed?

Thanks!

Hi there, its not just the roads in Costa Rica! One of my customers had the same thing happen to their van last week here in Wales (UK).
The part you need is the Anti-roll Bar. Take a look at the link. They are quite cheap and easy to get but I dont know how easy you would get one to you?

http://www.justkampers.com/search/result/?q=anti+roll+bar+heavy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Its best to get new bushes and clamps at the same time.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the info!

I'll see if I can get the local mechanic to order it somehow. Having the name and reference number should certainly help!
I'd order it myself online but Justkampers.com only ships in the UK unfortunately. But Mexico isn't too far, so... crossing fingers!

Thanks again.

And, Toad, forgive my ignorance but what are "bushes and clamps" I should get at the same time?

It's the bracket and the rubber that holds the anti-roll bar in place

Nice looking bus by the way 8)

The mechanic should help you get them too in the meantime remove it and the brackets and enjoy the bus I doubt it will make much difference to your drive
