help with air filter

hello i have an empi air filter which has been on my camper for over 7 years and i thought it was time to replace it when i fetched it off all oil started to drip out of it and after inspecting it the foam filter was soacking in oil is this correct or should it be dry like new car air filters help me please as i dont know if it is right

was the oil dirty /black?came up breather pipe,fillter should be cleaned with petrol dryed out and then soaked in light oil or proper air fillter oil then squezed out.

the oil was black i have a piece of pipe that looks like garden hose coming out of the air filter botton going to the pipe attached to where you fill up the oil i hope ive explained it better

The hose you have attached is part of the breather system and should be there,
As said, clean your filter and re-oil it

thank you i will clean it out later on today hopefully the engine will work better

Just make sure that pipe is clear and doesn't get kinked when you reinstall in otherwise you may end up with a rather oily engine bay.
