Oil changes on new engine ?

Have been running a turnkey 2110 engine bought from the states which was 'run in' on a dyno there and therefore had new oil / external oil filter when I fitted it as it came with the oil drained. The engine builders suggest the valves and next oil change do not need to be done till 1000 miles. Can anybody please advise if this is the correct time interval. Thankyou.

Its up to you really, i ran my engine in gently for 200-300 miles and changed the oil and adjusted tappets at about 600 miles.
