Hi, I've installed an external oil cooler and thermostat on me bus, which up until now has worked fine, the pipes are 20bar oil but one of them has just burnt through due to being close to the exhaust.(I had a stainless braid protector on it) A lot of the fittings are push on and jubilee which I detest, my mate who makes up proper hydraulic pipes with compression and bolt on fittings, says I should do it with steel reinforced pipe which I'd prefer. So, my question is do I definitely need the thermostat as it is all push on, and you cant use jubilee clips on hydraulic pipe,or can I do away with it and use proper pipe straight to cooler, nearly all of the miles are in summer or abroad, if it makes any difference. Sorry, very long winded, but any advice would be much appreciated.
