Suffolk, Old Felixstowe Clifflands car park. IP11 9SA. 600 Spaces, big unmarked grass area and small amount of surfaced road.
Steps down to the shingle/sand mix beach, past lots of beach huts. Handy drinks/snacks/ice cream hut within a couple of minutes stroll, and toilets as well. Good to watch the kiteboarders and windsurfers on the right day. Sometimes the North Sea even looks a more blue shade of brown!

Lepe country park, New Forest, near Exbury gardens, Park up on the front rather than in the cliff top car park and get good views of Isle of Wight, ferries, etc etc from the comfort of the drivers seat.

Dover - there's a tunnel road just outside Dover headed west on the A20 where you go under the cliffs and park up in a car park next to the sea. There's the sea wall walk through nature reserves and if you're lucky and there's a display on, you can watch the battle of britain flying display over capel le ferne and out over the channel. Or you can park next to the shingle beach at folkestone on the esplanade and still see the spitfire and hurricane from the other side. One of my best days out in the van ever when the planes are up.

Looe in cornwall is simply stunning and although I never like to stay overnight in carparks the long stay car park is brilliant, quiet and full of campers in the evening, parked right next to the tidal estuary, woodland walks at the top of the car park it is lovely,I'll dig out some photos

Having many a 'gentlemans moment' looking at all this vw porn. I'm still looking for my perfect early bay but in the meantime does anyone know of any spots in North Wales please? Oh and the petrol is cheap.
Thanks everyone.
