Thanks for the comments. I'd be really interested to hear Red9's comments as actually I really want this to work.

Does anyone know them well enough to point them in this direction? Might be worth having a quiet word as there sounds like there could be quite a few sales hanging on this thread alone.
Its cool to see that we haven't started a witch hunt on here and are prepared to wait and see what their response is.
It would also be interesting to hear from the guys that have theirs on order to see if they have the same problems as Chris when theirs turn up or whether mods are already being made.

I spoke to Simon just before Bristol Volksfest regarding ordering one of these, glad I didnt in the end (only due to having enough other things to sort before a new front end), so would really like to get clarification as I still have a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket that might end up getting send to Nate @ Wagenswest if these issues arent resolved.

I'm in agreement with Ant. Unless you have experience of this setup then people should refrain from passing further comments.

I spoke with Simon directly yesterday after seeing this thread as I already have a unit on order with him. Suffice to say he has totally put my mind at rest. Simon is also aware of this thread.

I have exchanged emails with Simon regarding the information on this thread, and I too am comfortable with my decision to order this kit - placed my order a few weeks ago.

So what information did he give that set both your minds at rest?

I think it best to allow Red9 to address the issues brought up in this thread and not have you folks read information second hand...

Hi there,
sorry this has taken a while to come back to you. Its taken me a while to overcome my disapointment with the manner that Chris has gone about this.

Firstly I would like to thank all the people who have contacted me regarding this tread.

As you know I don't frequent forums as I dont beleive they are the place to carry out a professional business. Therefore, I am not prepared to enter into a debate on any of the above on here.

All I will say is that my Bus is running with the setup as designed originally. It has covered over 4000 miles and is checked every month for wear or movement. It will not be having any of the parts changed that we did for Chris' 'setup' as we have had no issues with my Bus. This includes various wheel fitments.

You are welcome to come and view / test my Bus at any time.

Anyone who is genuinely interested is welcome to call and discuss any issues they may have regarding the issues raised.

We are currently taking legal advice on the possible defamatory comments made regading the safety and quality of our products which is why I have had to be a little sort here.

I look forward to talking to many of you in the near future and hope to see you at Vanfest!

Regards

Chris (slammedkustom) is actually now out of the country for the next 11 days on holiday.

I can honestly say I have not spoken to Chris about this issue, so have no opinion of my own on it. I have no idea whether or not he has viewed this thread since Simon's post however I'm sure that he would not want this thread to degenerate into the kind of threads as seen on 'other' forums, a view I'm sure is also shared by Simon.

Thanks Carole for letting folks know I was away, im back now

Regarding the red9 wishbone set up

Simon, I have said that I thought long and hard about weather to post up or not about my personal experience. When it came down to it I had to put my own experience with fitting the kit against the glowing write up I gave regarding my test drive of your bus. The problem was the kit does work well and I see it as a huge step forward in bus suspension but I believe there are issues that need to be developed further. I really do worry about the brake pedal clearance to the bevel box for one.

I have never said anything against the front end that I haven’t personally had an issue with, there was areas that we both agreed needed looking at; you have redesigned certain areas due to what arose during the fitment of my kit. I don’t doubt the quality of the product but certain areas need to be looked at, the main problems was the right angle bends all need to be 90 degrees, both sideplates had issues there
I have pictures of all the problematic areas my kit had or exposed, some major in my eyes some minor but there was issues.

I spent a great deal of time testing various wheel combinations, spacers and adaptors. Trying to make sure it wasn’t just my choice of wheel causing the problems. When you and your father came down I had the van on a ramp and showed you these problems. Before that I had phoned you, taken pictures and emailed them to you explaining the issues I faced. These issues still existed when using a standard 14inch rim, surely the datum point for the whole design.
I did all this freely to make sure the problem wasn’t at my end, eventually I spent 7 days on it to make sure 100% that I wasn’t mistaken. 7 days I should have spent on other things.

Im a very good welder and fabricator with access to a ramp and a workshop of tools. I’m trying to think of the poor soul lying on their back fitting this and finding problems, not everyone can weld, fabricate or find the solution, im sure you would want this kit to be the absolute best it can be, not dealing with calls and emails from guys (n gals) running into issues that can be rectified beforehand.

To state that you don’t discuss business on an open forum I understand but you have to remember I am a customer too. I cannot force you to take any of my suggestions onboard but I can let people know the issues I have found. That’s not criticism it’s my own findings
After a lot of work on the kit I received I now believe I have got it to the point where I am happy to run it. I have no vendetta against red9 the front ends still on there and its staying on there, ive also got red9 spring plates on the rear

It’s a shame you see it the way you do but I have tried to be as honest as I can, if you feel the need to discuss it you have my number.

I spent a good hour talking to Simon from red9 about these very issues today at VF
As mentioned Si doesn't have the time to frequent forums so to any of his customers that may have any concerns after reading slammedKustoms posts i please urge you to phone Simon at

I'm sorry you feel that way Simon as any legal action would involve action against the forum and not Chris as we are legally responsible for anything posted, i think you've gone about this the wrong way. If you were concerned about the post it would have better to come to one of the admins and request it be remove etc. :(. Is it not better to work wih us than threaten us with legal action?

Anyone who knows SK knows he's a standup guy and very trustworthy. I value his expertise and knowledge on all things Earlybay and he wouldn't have made this post without serious consideration. I don't think he has said anything damaging to Red9's reputation only that a good product needed some tweaking. I like most people on here am working off my drive and i certainly wouldn't have the skills to be able to carryout any of the small fixes mentioned. I've always been a positive about your products and the innovation your bringing to the scene but we can't always get it right first go, (i know i rarely do). I will still be on the list to purchase one of these setups when i have the monies available and i've been satisified that any teething problems have been ironed out. I hope you will reconsider your post as we would prefer to build relationships than destroy them.
