Sorted I though.... But no the cranks shaft wouldn't turn... All that came to my head was fuck!
So split the casing again to find the end main bearing had moved slightly off the dowl when we slotted it together. Ended in a damaged bearing so... More money needed to be spend on more bearing  not happy!!!
One good news from today though.. My alternator that Austin gave me came back from being tested and it's all okay :D

After calming down from the stupid engine problem we started to underseal

Fitted the horse shoe plate but ended up having to go back to 0 splines on the torsion bar. Wasn't happy with that so changed the rear tyre to a 175/65 and ran 1 spline with the shoes.

Myles, be careful running 175/65s on the rear is not a great idea, rolling radius is a lot smaller than a standard tyre and your engine will have to work a lot harder to achieve the same speed if you had larger tyres,

Cheers Graham, what would you recommend?

If still on 14's then you should nearly stick as close as possible to stock size, 185/80/14 if on 15's then you can go to 185/65/15.
Anything less than this will affect your rolling radius and over rev your engine.

There's an online tyre size calculator, if you do a search for miata tyre size calculator it should come up.

Thanks graham, will have a look at tyres once I get some adjustable spring plates so I can fit the wheel/tyre in. Il give you a call this week about popping up to get those bits. Cheers

Someone outbid me on this which I was annoyed about but even more so because my phone froze before I could bid again!! I would have won :(
