Still having running issues, initially runs at 60 happily then looses power.
Have removed the fuel pump push rod, Haynes manual says this should be 139.5mm long, measured mine at 135mm long.
Is the Haynes manual correct?
If so it seems mine is very worn and I am suprised it runs at all.
:?

are you running a generator or alternator the push rod is different lengths for the two types weirdly , don't know why but they are, could be a temperature issue causing loss of power or if having any other problems with start or idle, that could be the carb

Alternator, don't think generators were ever fitted to the type 4 engine.
Other than this issue the engine is running fine.
