hi - I want to check my timing using a strobe gun and tacho multimeter - the Clarks multimeter I have will give RPM and dwell readings - BUT the instructions say NOT TO USE WITH ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEMS.

I have Pertronix Ignitor 1 fitted - what happens if I use the multimeter? - which on a normal ignition system would be connected to the -pole on coil and -pole on battery

what else should I use to get the RPM on an electronic ignition system? or do I just rev up to what 3500 RPM feels like to get the full advance setting for the distributor?!!

cheers
Rob
