Van Raffle......thoughts and suggestions please

Been deliberating bout this one for a while. I've had my '71 up for sale for a few months without much interest being shown. I don't think I am asking over the odds for her (£8, 500). You can see pics of her here at http://s1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb368/seanlang2/camprvan/.

Then, I thought to myself, why don't I try and raffle her. My thinking being that I could either sell 100 rffle tickets at £100 each or 200 raffle tickets at £50 each depending on the amount of people interested. Either option would net £10,000.

I have asked Johnny if it would be possible to do this and advertise te raffle on Earlybay and his response was to place a thread here to put some feelers out to see how many people would be interested in buying a raffle ticket.

So, really wanted to ask how many of you out there would be interested in buying a raffle ticket for her. Please either respond here or PM me. I know this has probably never been done here before and it is not the normal/proper way to sell a van and some may want to come and have a look at her beore comittng any cash.

Please let me know your thoughts.

My personal feelings would be sorry, no way, £50 (or even £100) is a bit of a gamble, ok you stand the chance to win a camper but would you risk £50 on a gamble?
also what happens if you dont sell enough tickets?
Unfortunately campers dont seem to be selling as quickly as they used to, i had mine up for sale and even gambled on ebay (with a reserve that wasn't met ) and decided to keep it (which the wife and daughter were over the moon with even though it was the wifes idea to try and sell it so we could get a westy)
If you want to sell it then i would suggest you drop the price and try again, maybe even risk a no reserve ebay auction

a few years ago, folks on JK organised a raffle to raffle off a T25 in aid of Brads Cancer Foundation. The raffle was called Bradsbus , I seem to recall, even, at £1 per ticket, it never reached the sales many folks had hoped for {I don't know the exact amount of tickets sold}

when your going through duty free, raffle tickets ranging from £20 to about £75 are being sold for a ferarri or a Aston or some other "supercar", that would be a more attractive proposition than £50 to win a T2 purely because of the value of said supercar.

Me, i'd rather win a T2 anyday but not at £50. I'd think about a ticket at £10 but that would be it.

The raffle is a legal minefield and you'll never sell enough tickets! That's a general feeling nit reflected on you or your van btw.

WHS above, the law around this is a complete nightmare, you need to obtain consent from commissions etc. Great idea but sadly as stated you could end up losing your bus for a fraction of it's worth.
