I'm a cable jointer, I work live on the underground electrical 3 phase cables, making new connection and disconnection for all street lighting. I get the drive a 18tonn lorry every day and play with the HIAB ripping old lamp posts out and erecting new ones. It hard work digging out doors all year round, trying not to blow yourself up and swinging 10meter lamp post about and I absolutely love it!

Self employed plumber, doing mainly full bathroom refurbs but anything plumbing wise

Last year I watched a crew replacing telegraph poles (power ones) outside my house - respect as they had it down to a tee and had done the whole road by the time I got back from work!

Technically I'm an apprentice panel beater as that's what I'm working towards being qualified in but I do strip down/rebuilds, stereo fitting, some mechanical work etc and I'm learning painting on the side as well.

 Hello me from the past, four years has passed, your now a fully qualified panel beater and welder, you can also do paint work, and TIG welding, you've also changed companies and work on modern stuff as well as keeping your hand in the resto side but also get to work on fun stuff like British Touring Cars. You also set up the company website and do some of the office side preparing quotes and ordering parts and stock. You also get to train/torment apprentices'!

I'm an architectural technologist and designer, I work in the residential sector designing anything from extensions to developments of 350 units. Love my job, but hate the fact clients and purchasers don't value good design. You do get the odd job which is exciting.
