Sliding door card, part 57.
After breaking yet more of these damn clips, I've finally managed to get them all lined up and ready to fit. I decided that the probability of having to remove the door card is minimal, so I'm going to stick the middle section to the sliding door frame.

All fitted and glued, with a little weight to help with the grab.

Seems to have worked OK, although there is a small mark on the the door card where one of the clips has pushed back through the ply.

And refitted. Thanks to @Fortunate Son for the assistance, it's certainly easier with two people especially when the sliding door track cover is still in place.

Right then, where were we?
Off with the 40's and manifolds retightened back to heads.

44's back on, I'm glad there's an access hatch.

After quite a lot of jiggery-pokery with the carb linkage rod length, changing the spindle levers a couple of times and refitting the alternator strap due to interference it's running again.
Not brilliantly, but that's down to tuning.

And time for a drive around the block.

Now it's driving again, I can finish the cab door cards and get some miles before Ninove.

No pics taken this weekend.
It's very cold and damp at the lockup first thing in the morning, and I was feeling unwell so just wanted to get a couple of things done and get back home.
Still haven't fully sussed the 3/4 cylinder valve cover breather connection and route back to the breather box. It's cost me around £60 in AN-8 fittings so far. 🤦‍♂️
But I did solve/repair the rear air shock leaks for nothing, and it's starting on the button now.
Just need to sort the horn again, fit the ducts to the door cards and think about curtains.

After faffing around for ages with different fittings and pipe routes from the 3/4 rocker cover to the breather box on the fanhousing, I've taken the shortest route, straight up and through the engine rubber seal.

Part of the problem was the engine raise, as I had to trim a bit of the engine bay seal metalwork to get the AN fitting to screw onto the rocker cover outlet.
All this will be sorted when I next drop the engine and Teddy tidies the engine bay metal after my previous measuring mishaps.

A few short drives and a trip to CJ Motors for the use of their ramp for a full nut and bolt check.

Need to drop the pressure in the rear shocks a touch.
Teddy's Ghia looks the nuts with the new interior fitted.

The deluxe is still not running right, so booked in for a carb tune and rolling road session.

your bus is looking lovely! must be great to be driving it again in this sunnier weather?!

What's the deal with yellow lenses in the UK? is the law a bit grumpy about them or are they fair game for vehicles of this age?

OK, time to start the driver's door.
I've documented most of the stages here so you can see what an absolute pita it is.

Drill a couple of 7mm holes in your nice fresh painted door vents so you can fix the armrest.

Then drill some 4mm holes in your nice freshly trimmed door cards to allow you to screw the vents and support bars on.
Be aware that as these are repro parts they don't fit each other without a struggle.
Then you have to trim all the upholstery foam away from the holes so the screws don't bind up.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the repro door cards have holes that are too big for the original fixings screws and washers.

B662EDE9-3910-433B-A704-EFE2B7E2CCFD.jpeg

So now you need some screws that are longer and washers that prevent the screws pulling through, but with heads that don't push the door card away from the door frame.

Remember what I said about the foam binding the screws.

OK, so the vent is now attached to the door card. Next trim the vinyl joins where they're folded around the edge of the card.

Now insert the rubber bungs into the holes in the door for the clips. Apparently these stop water coming through and damaging the door cards.

098B75C6-31EB-4463-8DF8-F2CAED85963C.jpeg

Now fit the fixings clips to the door card, trimming vinyl where it interferes with the clip.

0A7ABFD7-D54A-48CF-B206-51B7856E9022.jpeg

Now you can fit the door card once all the clips are lined up with the holes in the door.
(I started on the door card this morning at around 11am and then started adjusting the clips at 1pm, the door card was actually finally installed at 3.25.)
