Looks like you did a good job there Si, what colour tin?

Hi Justin, Thanks.

It's just going to be plain satin black. :)

Beautiful engine build 8)
Should be lovely with the care being put in :D

Thanks,

It's the first build I've done so trying to get things correct and hopefully it will be a good engine. :)

Only got a few bit done this weekend, but managed to pick up the tin on Friday :D .

I spent a few hours cleaning and re-building the DRLA 40's.

Fitted new seals and o-rings and re-assembled.

Also managed to get the fan and alternator together and fit the cylinder tin. Starting to come together now

MOT is due at the end of the month, so also need to check the bus over. I think I will wait until after the MOT to install the engine.

Looking forward to trying to get it going, although not looking forward to having to cut the air filter bracket from the engine bay. Hopefully I can do this without wrecking it, so it can be reinstalled if I ever go back to stock. :?

You can bend it back to clear the carbs, I did this then a kind soul cut it off to tidy the engine bay when it was in for a service :? Well he meant well

I'm going to try and get it out in one piece so I could refit it if required in the future.

Tonight I cut the air filter mount out of the engine bay. Didn't want to, but needed to get it out of the way to allow for the carbs.
It also leaves the engine bay looking tidier.

Next job a skim of filler, smooth out and a nice coat or two of L87 if I can find the can I had of it in my garage.

A bit more progress, not long now hopefully. Fitting the Oil cooler parts ready for the engine.

Ran the lines under the bus and connected up the Stat.

20130418_184622_zps23b68732.jpg

Fitted the filter head and the connection hoses for the engine.

A few images of the hose run under the bus. Its held in place with cable ties, but I want to replace this with something better. I thinking of plastic coated metal straps?

Got the engine in Last weekend and I have been doing bits and pieces (connecting electrics and cooler etc.) during the week ready to see if it will run :)

So today was the big day

So did the last minute checks and let her go. :D First job was the Cam burn in (scarey  ) Here's a vid of her running.

Need to sort a minor oil leak from the push rod tubes, then hopefully get a road test in
