Ive recently put a 4 into 1 ceramic header and mondo box on my bus and as i would expect the rear valence and bumper get quite warm .

And since then for some reason when have had a bit of a run the oil pressure light flickers when at idle ( about 900 rpm ) a tiny blip of the throttle up to about 1000-1050 rpm and it goes out until back at idle ! was thinking of wrapping the header in heat wrap tape good thing or bad thing ?????
Im not expecting this to solve the flickering oil light but was wondering if this would cut down on the heat transfer a bit onto the underside of the engine ? as the tinware gets quite hot ?? just wondering if the engine is getting too warm and the oil is thinning a bit ?

its a 1641 T/P with twin carbs and was ok before the exhaust was fitted ! the only thing ive done different is to block off the air/heater outlets on the fan houseing that would normally go to the exchangers would it be worth trying to connect them back up as having the cold air going through the exchangers cool the exhaust a bit ( or am i just talking waffle ? )

your views if you please ( oh and am going to check all the timing ect again ) but carnt see how a new exhaust would of affected it :)

this isnt a technical/mechanical answer just experience with exhaust heat wrap.
i used to work on narrow boat engines and one objective is to keep the heat down inside the engine bays, so with the exhaust manifold and down pipe wrapped in this stuff you could hold it and not get burnt, great stuff but not cheap.

Have a looksy at my thread, I can honestly say it does work nicely, keeps temps around the exchangers down and the heat through them defo improves! Havent done the exhaust yet, but will at some point ;)

Cheers easy have had a good read through it ! and might i say wicked bus ! .

ive just wrapped the manifold but never gave the exchangers a thought !!!!!

so that will be next on the list :)

right i have reinstated the heat exchangers and have wrapped everything insight  .

and must admit it does seem to have made a difference not only does the air to the front seem warmer but my flickering oil light seems to have gone out ????? so maybe it was getting just that little bit too warm as that exhaust was chucking out some serious heat . either way will see how it goes :D
